The 70-year old local executive formerly served as an Assemblyman and Vice Mayor of Davao City. The esteemed mayor advocates for federalism in Mindanao and was recently awarded "Most Outstanding Alumnus" by the Lyceum of the Philippines.

With Mayor Duterte at the helm, Davao City had always been lauded as one of the safest and livable cities in the worldThe "controversial" mayor who currently serves his sixth term, is one of the watched politicians for a possible presidential bid in the May 2016 Presidential Elections.

This will not be the mayor's first time to visit the city. He personally handed the 1 million peso donation of the Davao City Government for the Typhoon Sendong victims in 2011.
