Let's take a look at the members of the Senate who amassed some of their wealth according the their latest statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN). In order to compare the current list with what I had for 2011 ("Top 10 Richest Senators in the Philippines (2011)"), you may check it out first.

For the year 2012, here's the Top 10 and their runner-ups:

10 - Senator Pia Cayetano

Senator Pia Cayetano had a net worth of P73 million by the end of 2012, up from P72 million previously.

9 - Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago

Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago declared a total of P77.7 million in net worth in 2012, higher than her P69.7 million in 2011.

8 - Senator Serge Osmena

Senator Sergio Osmena III, had P111.8 million in net worth last year. He only had P105.5 million in net worth in 2011.
7 - Senator Juan Ponce Enrile

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, who announced he would no longer seek public office, disclosed he had P118.6 million in net worth, higher than the P117.7 million he bared in 2011.

6 - Senator Ed Angara

In the SALN he submitted for 2012, Senator Edgardo Angara had a net worth of P159 million, more than twice the P78.3 million he declared in 2011.
5 - Senator Bong Revilla

Senator Bong Revilla disclosed a net worth of P169.1 million. This is higher than the P147.2 million he had in 2011.
4 -  Senator Jinggoy Estrada

Senate President pro tempore Jinggoy Estrada had a net worth of P193.6 million last year. This is higher than the P166.7 million the son of Manila Mayor-elect Joseph "Erap" Estrada declared in 2011.
3 - Senator Bongbong Marcos

Senator Bongbong Marcos,  had a net worth of P437 million, up from P364.4 million in 2011.
2 - Senator Ralph Recto

Senator Ralph Recto had P468.5 million in net worth, up from P426 million in 2011.
1 - Senator Manny Villar

Outgoing Senator Manny Villar remains the richest before his wife Senator-elect Cynthia Villar, replaces him in the 16th Congress. The former Senate president had a total net worth of P1.45 billion. Villar had P854.2 million the year before. A huge part of his networth is his investment with his wife as shares of stocks.

For the runner-ups, here are the following:

11 - Senate Majority Leader Tito Sotto bared a net worth of P62.2 million. In a note attached to his SALN, Sotto declared buying a house and lot that has an assessed value of P10.1 million in Nevada. His networth was only pegged at P58.9 million previously.

12 - Senator Franklin Drilon, who is rumored to replace Enrile as the next Senate president, disclosed a net worth of P51.8 million. In 2011, he only had P45 million in net worth.

13 - Re-elected Senator Loren Legarda had P46 million in net worth as of December 2012. She declared a networth of P45.7 million in 2011. Legarda attached Annex A in her 2012 SALN that discloses her controversial real property in a posh area in New York amounting to P28.7 million.

14 - Senator TG Guingona reported a net worth of P43.5 million last year, down sharply from P82.5 million a year ago.

15 - Outgoing Senator Ping Lacson was worth P28.9 million as of December 2012. This is higher than his total networth of P22.6 million in 2011.

16 - Senator Lito Lapid had a net worth of P26 million, up from P23.5 million in 2011. Lapid's wife failed to provide her signature in the senator's SALN. Marissa Lapid is still serving jail time in the U.S. after being caught sneaking in a huge sum of money last year.

17 - Senator Gringo Honasan had a net worth of P21.1 million. He disclosed having P20.8 million in 2011.

20 - Senator Kiko Pangilinan had a net worth of P14.4 million as of end-2012. This is slightly lower than the P14.6 million he declared in 2011.

21 - Senator Joker Arroyo's net worth stood at P11 million as of December 2012, which is the same as what he declared in 2011.

22 - Re-elected Senator Sonny Trillanes, who used to be the poorest among his peers, edged out Escudero with a net worth of P4.4 million. This is higher than the P2.9 million he declared in 2011.

Lastly, on the 23rd spot, re-elected Senator Chiz Escudero's total assets amounting to P4 million made him the poorest senator as of December 2012. The decrease in his net worth came after Escudero transferred some of the real properties to his twins following an annulment. In 2011, Escudero's net worth reached P9.9 million.
